THE
ALLURE
By Jackie King-Scott
Lift Every Voice, ISBN 0-8024-1562-8
Disenchanted with her
marriage, Valerie Townsend would spend Saturdays in the
park than at home with her husband, especially now that a handsome,
outgoing musician has come into her life. Sparks ignite the friendship
to something more and Valerie
is faced with many powerful questions. Can she save her marriage, and
does she even want to? After all, Valerie's new friend seems to be
everything her husband is not. Could it be God has sent this man into
her life to be her new mate? Is he God's way of saying it's time for
her to leave her husband and move on?
The Allure boldly confronts the
topic of infidelity, showing how deeply the wound of unfaithfulness can
hurt as emotional disconnection is allowed to spread through the
relationship. Some readers will be reminded and others introduced to an
array of truths, one of my favorite: God, not a husband or wife, is our
source of contentment. Author, Jackie King-Scott, delivers a tender and
timely read as The Allure, set
to a contemporary tone, relays through its characters many Biblical
keys that provide insight into God's will for every marriage. Although
fiction, The Allure is an excellent reading
selection and discussion piece for pre-marital counseling sessions, as
well as couples and singles meetings.
